here’s some late homework from the past few days. of course drums are really what’s good about music so starting at 15 i abandoned drones, which were boring me, to design other sounds. also I want to learn how to use the Arpeggiator & Random.
14 is based on a sample of a Predator drone flying, get it?
how did my numbering get off? how am I behind? I’ve made at least one drone every day. time’s betrayed me yet again.
samples like this almost don’t count as drones because this almost has a melody but w/e

when the hour of judgement is upon us, will we recognize the moment for what it is, or will we dither away the time?
of course these are exercises mostly, rather than totally finished songs, but i need to do better with endings, rather than just cut out abruptly. this keeps happening because i decide arbitrarily how long the track is before recording anything.

for this one I threw an effects chain on top of Ableton’s “vinyl distortion” plugin, turned the device’s “crackle” setting up so the crackles played through the chain, then recorded the manipulated crackles onto an empty track.

it’s been raining a lot!
the goal: make something without too much distortion or overdrive, using oscillators for most the modulation. i made a couple drones since the last one i posted but this one is the best i think. what i learned mostly is to streamline workflow using ableton features i’ve until now brute forced my way into avoiding, like sends/returns or audio effects racks with macros mapped to knobs on my midi controller.
